Symposium II “Molecular Mechanisms Regulating Oocyte Development” took place on day two of the Dublin meeting. Two expert speakers from EUROVA, Dr Gavin Kelsey, Babraham Institute and Associate Professor Jose Buratini, UNESP/Clinica Eugin delivered seminars, along with an external speaker, Professor Marie Helen Verlhac from College de France. ESRs Pritha Dey, Aimilia Zisiadi and Julieta D’Augero introduced and co-chaired the Speaker sessions. Lais Barbosa Latorraca participated in the Panel Discussion.

Mid Term Project check, University College Dublin

University College Dublin hosted the first in person meeting of the EUROVA Consortium on 13th-14th October 2021. It provided an excellent opportunity for supervisors and early stage researchers to meet each other, introduce their projects, provide updates on their progress in the lab, discuss questions and find improvements. The EU REA Project Officers joined virtually on day one, to carry out the Mid Term Project check.

Following the Symposium on day 2, the ESRs travelled to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Co. Louth for a fun afternoon of team building at The Crystal Maze.

EUROVA Workshop 2 - Research Integrity, Università degli Studi di Milano

Workshop 2 on Research Integrity was held online in March 2021. Professor Valentina Lodde, University of Milan delivered a course on Digital Imaging over four days. EUROVA early stage researchers also received training on Conducting and reporting quantitative real time PCR experiments according to the MIQE Guidelines from Prof Federica Francosi, University of Milan.

Dr. Rita Vassena, Clinica Eugin delivered an interactive workshop on Ethics in Human Reproductive Research. The final session on Ethics in Animal Research was delivered by Prof Barbara DiMori, University of Padua.

Symposium I- Oogenesis

EUROVA Symposium I “Oogenesis” took place on Friday 12th February 2021.

Speakers included Professor Poul Hyttel, University of Copenhagen, Dr Rita Vassena, Clinica Eugin and Professor Thomas Hildebrandt, Leibniz Institute for Zoo & Wildlife Research. An open panel discussion followed the presentations.

The event was chaired by Professor Ann Van Soom and Professor Federica Franciosi, assisted by co-chairs Camilla Benedetti, Raffaella Simone, Styliani Galatidou and Andrea Fernandez. It was attended by EUROVA Consortium members and was also open to non Consortium members. The audience of over ninety attendees had the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session with the speakers.
