On Monday 18th September, 2023 at 3pm CET Dr. Evelyn Telfer of University of Edinburgh was the guest lecturer at the BOB Forum. Her topic was In Vitro Growth and In Vitro Derivation of oocytes.
On Monday 13th March, 2023 Dr. Melina Schuh, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences was the guest speak at the BOB Forum. Her topic was Mammalian oocytes store mRNAs in a mitochondria-associated membraneless compartment.
On Monday 13th February, 2023 at 4pm CET Dr. Antonella Mastroroco of University of Bari Aldo Maro was the guest speaker at the BOB Forum. Her topic was Bioengineering approaches to improve oocyte in vitro maturation.
On Monday, 28th November, 2022 at 5pm CET Dr. Dawit Tesfaye of Colorado University was the guest speaker at the BOB Forum. His topic was The potential of extracellular vesicle-medicated molecular signaling for oocyte growth and development.
On Monday, 10th October, 2023 at 4pm Professor Karl Swann of Cardiff University was the Guest Speaker at the BOB Forum. His topic was Ca2+ Oscillations, ATP Production and egg activation in mouse and human eggs.
The final talk of the Spring 2022 BOB Forum was delivered by Dr. Charles L. Bormann, the Director of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital on 'SMART-ART: Application of Artificial Intelligence in the IVF Laboratory'.
On Tuesday, 19th April 2022, Dr. Krishna Chaitanya Pavani from Ghent University was the fifth guest speaker on the BOB Forum. The title of his talk was the 'Role of Extracellular Vesicles in Embryo Communication'
The fourth talk, titled, 'Oocyte response to heat stress' was delivered by Dr. Fabiola F Paula-Lopes from the Federal University of Sao Paolo.
The third seminar in the series titled, 'Long-term molecular consequences for calves of being derived from an in vitro produced embryo' was delivered by Dr. Maria Belen Rabaglino from University College Dublin, Ireland.
EUROVA BOB Forum Seminar 2 took place on Thursday 2nd December, delivered by Dr. Rodrigo Garcia Barros from the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy, on 'Development of new oocyte in vitro culture strategy to enhance the outcome of assisted reproductive technologies.'
The inaugural EUROVA Basic Ooctye Biology (BOB) talk was delivered by Prof. Beatriz Peñalver Bernabé from the University of Illinois, Chicago, on 'Taking advantage of genome-wide metabolic models to understand mouse and human ovarian follicle development.'
Symposium II “Molecular Mechanisms Regulating Oocyte Development” took place on day two of the Dublin meeting. Two expert speakers from EUROVA, Dr Gavin Kelsey, Babraham Institute and Associate Professor Jose Buratini, UNESP/Clinica Eugin delivered seminars, along with an external speaker, Professor Marie Helen Verlhac from College de France. ESRs Pritha Dey, Aimilia Zisiadi and Julieta D’Augero introduced and co-chaired the Speaker sessions. Lais Barbosa Latorraca participated in the Panel Discussion.
University College Dublin hosted the first in person meeting of the EUROVA Consortium on 13th-14th October 2021. It provided an excellent opportunity for supervisors and early stage researchers to meet each other, introduce their projects, provide updates on their progress in the lab, discuss questions and find improvements. The EU REA Project Officers joined virtually on day one, to carry out the Mid Term Project check.
Following the Symposium on day 2, the ESRs travelled to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Co. Louth for a fun afternoon of team building at The Crystal Maze.
Workshop 2 on Research Integrity was held online in March 2021. Professor Valentina Lodde, University of Milan delivered a course on Digital Imaging over four days. EUROVA early stage researchers also received training on Conducting and reporting quantitative real time PCR experiments according to the MIQE Guidelines from Prof Federica Francosi, University of Milan.
Dr. Rita Vassena, Clinica Eugin delivered an interactive workshop on Ethics in Human Reproductive Research. The final session on Ethics in Animal Research was delivered by Prof Barbara DiMori, University of Padua.
EUROVA Symposium I “Oogenesis” took place on Friday 12th February 2021.
Speakers included Professor Poul Hyttel, University of Copenhagen, Dr Rita Vassena, Clinica Eugin and Professor Thomas Hildebrandt, Leibniz Institute for Zoo & Wildlife Research. An open panel discussion followed the presentations.
The event was chaired by Professor Ann Van Soom and Professor Federica Franciosi, assisted by co-chairs Camilla Benedetti, Raffaella Simone, Styliani Galatidou and Andrea Fernandez. It was attended by EUROVA Consortium members and was also open to non Consortium members. The audience of over ninety attendees had the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session with the speakers.
