Mr. Kristian Christos Kailis

I am a Geneticist from Greece, with a background in Animal Science and Medical Genetics.

In 2022 I received my iMSc degree in Animal Science from the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) after presenting my thesis focusing on the synergic action of genes in de novo lipogenesis. I completed, also, one internship at my university involving DNA detection and isolation from animal derivatives, and another at the Institute of Human Genetics in Montpellier, France, focusing on bioinformatics and the study of immunoglobulins.

This year, I am finishing my MSc in Medical Genetics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), as I write my thesis concerning collagenopathies. Last summer, I participated in the "Science, Ethics, and Governance of Human Genome Editing" program in Tübingen, Germany, focusing on CRISPR genome editing. During my studies, I had the opportunity to see both laboratory and clinical pathways around reproduction and genetics.

I am a defender and advocate of One Health and One Welfare. The EUROVA training program is a great opportunity to continue my research career abroad expanding my knowledge about reproduction and getting hands-on experience in the lab, with the advantage of being mentored by brilliant researchers in the field. I hope that I will contribute to their work and develop myself to be able to pursue a PhD and be the best version of myself as a Researcher.
