Prize for best oral presentation at ISFP, Brussels awarded to ESR15 Cristina Subiran Adrados

EUROVA ESR15, Cristina Subiran Adrados, was awarded the prize for best oral presentation at the Bi-annual meeting of the International Society of Fertility Preservation in Brussels on 10-12th November.

The title of Cristina’s presentation was “Human Platelet Lysate improves growth and survival of isolated human preantral follicles in vitro”.

The presentation abstract is described below:

The culture of human ovarian follicles is a potential new source of mature oocytes for fertility preservation and an important model system to study basic biology. However, only

a few studies have produced mature human oocytes after culturing pre antral stage follicles, to improve and standardize protocols, more research is needed. In this project, we

investigated the use of platelet-rich plasma in the culture of human pre-antral follicles as an alternative protein source. We demonstrated that a commercially available PRP solution

from peripherical blood, hPL, improves survival and growth of pre-antral follicles while umbilical cord PRP also increases growth but decreases dramatically survival rates and alters

follicular morphology.

Well done Cristina!
